Rose Adams, MS, OTR/L, better known as "Ms. Rose" by her clients, graduated from the Brooklyn Campus of Long Island University, in September of 2005. Shortly after graduation, she began her career at Positive Beginnings Preschool, in Queens New York. Her career as staff therapist involved serving as Clinical Coordinator and Educator for the Occupational Therapy department. She later provided services as an independent therapist at sensory clinics and in schools. Ms. Adams has treated clients with a wide range of functional and learning difficulties ranging from developmental delay, Autism, ADHD, fine motor delay, visual motor integration delay, sensory processing disorder, among others.
Ms. Adams currently serves as the Executive Director at Changing Lives Occupational Therapy, P.C. Her determination, drive, and commitment to her clients enable her to make the difference that truly changes lives. She enjoys conducting skills workshops for kids and providing educational and learning experiences to staff, parents, and other school-based professionals. Through the Changing Lives OT Internship and Clinical Education Program, Ms. Adams has mentored a number of students from local universities and colleges such as Long Island University, Queens College, York College of the City of New York, and Montclair State University. She believes that "real-world" clinical experiences better prepares students to excel in their field(s) of study.
Ms. Adams uses music as a unique therapeutic tool in her practice. She believes, "When music is combined with participation in activities that provide the right level of challenge, life-changing functional improvements are possible." She promotes music and movement for the development of motor skills, music as a teaching and therapeutic tool, and music to organize of behavior for individuals with all levels of ability. Ms. Adams specializes in sensory processing skills and handwriting skills. She is certified by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT), licensed to practice Occupational Therapy in New York State, a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), and is a Certified Provider of The Listening Program® (TLP).
